Let me assure you that cutting expenses in your 403(b) plan is both practical and necessary.  It seems that everyone is discussing cutting costs.  In fact, Congress is holding hearings on what to do about the myriad of very expensive retirement plans that vendors are selling to plan sponsors.
 
Congress has proved that most employees don't know how expensive their plan really is.  That's after more than twenty-five years of education that was provided to employers by the vendors.  
 
Service providers sell services, investments, and packaged products, and they educate
employees, too.  Vendors have conflicts of interest, and their education programs mostly
revolve around fear tactics—they want to educate you on what they sell and why you need
their produicts, services, and/or mix of investments.  That's not education folks—it's a sales pitch!
 
Investing in your plan does not have to be time consuming nor does it have to be hard work.
